About

Hotel Am Schubertring

Hotel Am Schubertring occupies the upper floors of a classic Vienna building on the Ringstrasse, one of the city's grand boulevards. The location is the headline: the Vienna State Opera, the Musikverein, and the Stadtpark are all within a few minutes' walk, and the Karlsplatz transport hub is just across the street. Despite the lively setting, guests describe the rooms as quiet, thanks to soundproofing and the height of the floors.

The hotel covers the practical bases with a paid airport shuttle, a concierge desk, luggage storage, and vending machines for snacks and drinks. Breakfast is served in the basement dining room, and the front desk staff consistently earn praise for their warmth and willingness to help – whether that means booking a taxi or recommending a nearby park. Room types range from classic doubles to two-bedroom suites, many with bathtubs and some with coffee machines.

In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

3 reasons to book
  • Location on the Ringstrasse — Right on Vienna's grand boulevard, steps from the State Opera and the Musikverein, with the Stadtpark and Karlsplatz transport hub nearby.
  • Quiet, top-floor rooms — The hotel occupies the upper floors of a classic building, and guests repeatedly note how peaceful it is despite the busy surroundings. Soundproofing and air conditioning add to the comfort.
  • Attentive, personable staff — Review after review calls out the front desk team for their warmth, helpfulness, and local knowledge – from restaurant recommendations to airport taxi bookings.
–

Worth weighing

3 to weigh
  • Rooms on the top floor can be irregular — Because the hotel sits on the upper floors of a mixed-use building, some room layouts are unconventional – one guest advises asking for specific rooms (1 or 2) for the best shape.
  • Breakfast is simple — While it covers the basics, the breakfast buffet is basic and the dining category scores lower than the rest of the hotel.
  • Check-in window is narrow — Standard check-in runs from 15:00 to 22:00, so late arrivals need to plan ahead.

“The best part was being right in the center of the city.”

“Location and staff are excellent. Restaurants across the street, a McDonald's next door, and a Spar supermarket around the corner. Breakfast is simple but has everything you need, with attentive service. Everything is walkable, and there's a tram stop right outside; the subway and train are also very close. A welcome lemonade during the heatwave and tea or Nespresso in the room were nice touches. The hotel is on the sixth floor with a direct elevator, and the dining room and reception are downstairs. They arranged a taxi back to the airport, which gave us confidence. For a central stay, I'd return.”

8.2Verified guest

“Perfect spot on the Ringstrasse, charming historic architecture, and spacious public areas.”

8.2Verified guest

“The location was ideal for our trip – most attractions are just a few minutes away, and there are great parks nearby. Despite the busy area, the hotel is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. Staff are friendly and smiling, breakfast is good, and having tea and coffee in the room is a plus. The no-smoking policy is appreciated. Cleaning was excellent and discreet. We plan to come back with our grandchildren – it would be comfortable for young children too.”

8.2Verified guest

“We stayed two nights in early February, looking for proximity to the Vienna Opera – we weren't disappointed. The location is wonderful: sights, museums, the opera, cafés, and shopping streets are all within walking distance; the subway and airport trains are two tram stops away. We were checked in early, got a two-category room upgrade, and ended up with a large, spacious, and warm room that matched the photos. The carpeted floor was nice to walk on barefoot. There was some noise from other rooms, but it didn't bother us. We skipped breakfast. Housekeeping was thorough, and the reception offers luggage storage.”

8.2Verified guest

“We had a spacious apartment, which was great for traveling with kids. The staff were super friendly, gave us helpful tips on where to eat, and even pointed out a nearby park where the children could run around.”
